This program is designed to provide police officers, criminal investigators, and the crime analysts who assist them with a systematic and scientific methodology that enables them to detect deception from the written statements, verbal statements, and physical behavior of crime victims, witnesses, and suspects, maximize the quantity and quality of information obtained from these persons, and significantly enhance the interview and interrogation process.
This is a one-week (36 hour) "hands-on" program that provides you with techniques you can use immediately to solve the real-world problems that daily confront law enforcement personnel. Once trained, you will know not only how to psychologically control the interview process, but how to use a variety of methodologies to obtain valuable information from eye witnesses and suspects while decreasing confabulation. Additionally, you will learn the latest methods for detecting deception through both verbal and nonverbal clues. You will then be shown how to use these powerful techniques to create a unique interrogation plan that is specifically designed to appeal to an individual offender's personality and values.
Presented in a comfortable, non-threatening environment that permits both individualized coaching and group instruction, the training takes a "learn-by-doing" approach that gives you many opportunities to actually perform the tasks associated with statement analysis and the interview and interrogation process. You'll also be taught techniques of effective listening, how to enhance victims' and witnesses' memories (and your own memory!), how to detect both confabulated memories and/or deception, and how to develop a scientifically-based, systematic approach to criminal interrogation. This format of instruction allows for not only a highly-interactive exchange between you and the facilitator, but offers unique opportunities for group interaction and collaboration. Translation: You'll learn a lot and have fun, too!
