Certification Information

All participants in the Crime Analysis Applications, Criminal Investigative Analysis, Criminal Intelligence Analysis, and Research Methods in Criminal Justice training courses are eligible to have their coursework credited toward the attainment of their Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst (C.C.I.A.) Credential. This program is sponsored by the California State Universities and the California Department of Justice.

This program is designed to provide an academic training curriculum for Crime and Intelligence Analysts and to formally recognize their contributions to the law enforcement profession. Students who complete all Crime and Intelligence Analyst Credential requirements will receive a certificate from the California State Universities which verifies their academic achievement. The California Department of Justice, in recognition of the University award, will subsequently bestow the title of Certified Crime Analyst upon, and grant the credential to, all students who successfully complete the credential program.

The four core courses listed above are currently taught at California State University, Fullerton; California State University, Sacramento; and at the University of California, Riverside. As such, they are approved credential courses. Students who satisfactorily complete the courses--
either at the Universities or any satellite location at which they are offered--will have the courses credited toward completion of their credential program.
